In August 2009 the Climbers’ Ranch installed a 3.15kWh grid-tied solar electric system through a generous donation of the Charles and Lisa Claudy Fleischman Family Foundation.

* Usage = annual energy consumption in kWh
* Occupancy = total guest bunk nights

The Ranch has made efforts to reduce its electric consumption, including:

* installation of tankless (on-demand) water heaters
* replacement of bathhouse water heaters with high-efficiency heaters
* upgrading kitchen refrigerators and other appliances with energy star models
* installation of indoor CFL lighting
* replacement of outdoor spot lights with CFL lighting

The heating of water for showers remains the Ranch’s largest component of energy usage. Visit Electric Usage Reduction for more information.
